Musical toys can certainly become irritating after a while, either playing the same monotones electronic tune over and over again, usually not being allowed even to play the fully ditty, but restarting the first bar over and over again as your darling little one keeps pressing that exciting button. The alternative is that the delightful chorus is being composed and performed by none other than your own dear sweetheart of a cherub. It was so kind of his aunt to buy him that drum set for Christmas wasn't it?
The problem is, though, that music, and musical toys, are very important to the development of a child. Music has so many beneficial factors, and many more that we can only hint at but cannot yet define why they have such an effect.
As a case in point, there have been many studies lately which demonstrate that listening to Mozart for an hour or so before sitting a test or exam will actually improve your analytical and logical skills, improving performances in maths and science subjects. Quite why this is so is hard to say.
Some argue that a spark of the genius of Mozart is carried in the notes, almost like a code that reaches straight into our brain and wakes it up; others suggest that it is merely the process of relaxing to music that calms the mind and allows us to approach analytical tasks more calmly and rationally.
Who can, say? But no matter which camp you feel yourself in, it is certainly not possible to question the validity of the results.
As a small child, music has an immediate effect.
Most children love dancing to music, even if they have never seen anyone else do it.
Moving to the rhythm, albeit in their own interpretation of rhythm, babies and toddlers will rock, clap or stomp away to a tune, almost as though compelled.
This certainly is fascinating, as there is no other creature that responds to music in the same way.
As well as listening to music, playing it themselves is also something which, if nothing else, makes small children very happy. They have no other real voice, as they can't speak, or at least not in a way that gets their message across, but by bashing out notes or beats they can become vocal, in their own way, and this is important as a way of allowing the child to express themselves, and identify themselves as an individual.
The rhythm and beats of music are definitely mathematical in nature, and this can certainly help to stimulate a child's brain and allow them to think in beats, rhythms, groups of notes and when they start to learn to count, walk, run and play games, a sense of rhythm, and a sense of logic are all critically important.
Who knows just how much benefit music is to a growing child? Just don't be too quick to blame his auntie.
She just might have tapped in to his genius.

Children's Diet - Simple Diet Tips To Prevent Obesity & Illness
Today, more children than ever are overweight. In many instances not only are children increasingly overweight many become obese and even die from over eating.
Here we are going to enclose some simple tips on children's diet, to encourage good eating habits so they are healthy and happy.
Here are your children's diet tips for health and happiness: The responsibility is yours If you are a parent you are responsible for what your child eats.
You need to train them in good habits from an early age to prevent problems as they grow up. The choices you make are vital as they can, save your child from obesity, illness and in extreme cases a premature death. 1. Eat Breakfast As far as children's diet is concerned this is the most important meal of the day. Make sure they eat porridge or sugar free cereals and yogurt to set them up for the day 2. Discourage eating between meals Training a child when they should eat is a must.
Don't feed them when there happy or stressed as this will confuse a child about proper times to eat. 3.
Don't use food as reward This leads on from the above if your child does something good don't reward them with food.
Not only will they feel they should eat it, it also undermines in their head what food is actually for.
Do this and they won't eat just for the sake of it.
4.
Food and boredom It's very easy when you are out with your children and there is a delay for the train or bus to keep them quite by simply giving them food to keep them quite.
This is counter productive; divert their attention in other ways.
5.
Treats and healthy meals Of course, all children deserve a treat and should enjoy it, but that's exactly what it should be a treat and not a regular item they get all the time.
When making meals for children it is important to take into account their likes and dislikes, but make sure that you give food that is as natural and healthy as possible.
Fried foods, crisps and any foods with high sugar content need to be given in moderation.
In packed lunches rather than a chocolate bar everyday, do it once a week.
Use fruit as the sweet part of the meal on the other days: Grapes apples and strawberries are a great sweet that most children will enjoy. Kids don't need processed food! Many parents believe that children will not enjoy natural healthy foods but this is all down to conditioning. From an early age if you teach children healthy habits they will stay with them for life and the converse is true, teach them bad habits with food and they will become unhealthy. Children cannot and should not, be responsible for or dictate to you, what they should eat.
You know best, so get them healthy and happy with a proper diet, regular meals and of course, occasional treats.

Wilderness Therapy Or a Boot Camp - Your Choice
The main point to understand is that the two options are like chalk and cheese. They operate in different ways, in different locations and offer different programs. So is there a difference between a wilderness camp and a boot camp? There most certainly is and the choice will depend almost totally on the condition of your teen.
And remember you can't afford to make the wrong choice. A boot camp is for teens that may need a short, sharp jolt.
They are usually mentally and physically fit although some may have gained too much weight.
But their grades are dropping and they seem to have little respect for their parents and teachers.
They are in danger of letting their education crumble before their eyes. One definite remedy for this type of capable but lazy teen is to send them to boot camp. Here the rules are strict and enforced.
Lots of physical activity and the residents sleep well because they are so tired.
The staff members are not there to be friends, although they are certainly capable of being friendly, but rather to whip teens into shape.
On the other hand, your teen may be depressed and have a poor self-image. They may spend far too much time alone in their room and show little interest in mixing with others.
They could have a condition like ADHD or dyslexia.
They could suffer from depression.
This type of teen needs understanding and therapy and a wilderness camp is possibly the ideal venue. These camps are set in the great outdoors and Mother Nature is one of the best assets of every camp.
The staff members are trained professionals who know how to encourage teens and help them build their self-confidence. Each resident is given responsibilities and most take to these like a duck to water.
Away from the pressures of their home and school, the teens get to mix with others like them and tackle projects they would not normally encounter.
So it should be obvious the camps do not cater for just any type of troubled teen. And it would be a waste of time and money, not to mention possible harm to your child, to send them to the wrong type of camp.
A teen that is low in confidence and in need of therapy and friendship will quite probably go backwards at a boot camp.
But then a lazy teen that is in need of a jolt back into reality may get no such jolt hiking in the wonderful wilderness.
Parents take note.
You should have your child properly assessed and know precisely what is troubling them. Then you can make a clear decision on a boot camp or a wilderness camp.
But that's not the end of it.
You see all camps vary and once you choose either boot or wilderness, you then need to investigate just what each offers in specific terms.
Finding the right camp and the best camp is the only way to truly help your troubled teen.

Legal But Lethal - Cough Medicine Abuse in Teens
An ingredient found in many cough and cold remedies is finding its way into the hands of teens intent on using it to get what is described as a cheap dissociative high.
Dextromethorphan (DXM) - a synthetic ingredient found in more than 125 products including Vicks Nyquil LiquiCaps and Dimetapp DM - is increasingly being misused by teens with ready access to what is a legal drug available without prescription.
"When abused, dextromethorphan takes on qualities of a dissociative drug," the Canadian Council on Drug Abuse explains in literature to parents and others. "This means that it produces feelings of detachment in a person, as well as distorting a person's perception of sight and sound.
" A 2008 study found that one in 10 American teenagers has used products with DXM to get high, making it more popular in that age group than cocaine, ecstasy, LSD, and meth.
And although DXM products are considered safe when taken as recommended, high doses can cause side effects that include blurred vision, numbness, heart attack, confusion, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, anxiety, and poor coordination. Longer-term effects are not fully known but are believed to include depression, liver problems, psychosis, and learning and memory problems.
What Can Parents Do? Start by talking to your teen about the dangers of abuse and the fact that over-the-counter medications are as dangerous as street drugs.
Experts like Celebrity Rehab's Dr.
Drew Pinsky say parents need to include cough medicine abuse in drug-abuse conversations with their kids.
"Make sure they understand you do not approve of any sort of substance abuse behavior and that they understand the risks of medicine abuse," Pinsky is quoted as saying.
Keep DMX Products Under Lock and Key Treat products with DMX like the potentially harmful substances they are.
Clean out your cabinets and store all medicine in a safe, locked location where you can monitor how much is in each container. Watch for Signs of Abuse Pinsky says it's important parents recognize that DMX abuse is a problem that affects teens of all kinds - not just troubled teens. "Parents may think, `not my teen,' but one in 10 teens report having abused cough medicines to get high and 28 percent know someone who has tried it," he says.
Signs of abuse to watch for include: Empty cough medicine boxes or bottles in the trash of your teen's room or backpack Boxes or bottles of medication missing from the medicine cabinet Changes in friends, physical appearance, or sleeping or eating patterns Loss of interest in hobbies or favorite activities Hearing your teenager use slang terms associated with DXM abuse including Dex, Skittling, Tussing, Robo-Tripping, Triple Cs, Poor Man's Ecstasy, Red Devils, Rome, and Sky, to name just a few.

And, if we can indeed afford the best, our child deserves the very first attendance.
If we focus on kid's bedroom, the first thing of importance that strikes us is obviously the kids bed.

While some maintain traditional styles, there are other modern and futuristic designs as well for those kids who prefer funkiness and the feel of the contemporary look. Once the bed is dealt with, we can go over to another component of the kid's bedroom which adds a lot of life to a room and gives it a warm touch. Yes, it is none other than kid rugs.
Rugs, as it is understood are an indispensable part of any room and can create new dimensions, if chosen correctly for the kids.
Kid rugs can be uber-hip with an array of colors brightening the room or it can be in slightly darker shades for a slightly elegant and sophisticated look.

Crash Proof Your Teen
Statistics show that as many as 40% of teens get in some kind of accident during their first year of driving.
These range from fender benders to cars that are totaled. Each year over 5,000 teens are killed in car accidents, and hundreds of thousands are injured.
So, what can you do to crash proof your teens? Consider the following: 1. Start by teaching them right.
The more supervised driving they have, the better chance they have of being a good driver.
Once they are awarded their license, and you are no longer required to be in the car while they drive, the opportunity to teach them good road driving is gone.
You can't just rely on the driver's education system and other driving programs to teach your child to drive.
They need to practice, and the best way to do that is to drive with you. The more practice they get with a supervising adult, the better chance they have at avoiding crashes, and becoming a safe driver rather than a road hazard.
2.
Take advantage of the "learners permit" stage. This is a stage where you have to drive with them, and they are looking to learn.
So, optimize it by giving them plenty of opportunities to drive, and in plenty of different circumstances.
Let them drive on back roads and parking lots when starting, then bump them up to more congested roads.
Give them a chance to drive at night, or in the morning when there is some fog.
Let them merge onto the highway, and practice safe driving in the rain.
Basically, during this stage, try to replicate every possible driving scenario they will face on their own, but with you in the car. This way you can teach them the right way to handle these situations, and let them learn right from the beginning, so that you do not have to try and re-teach them later. That never works well.
3.
Set rules for driving.
The first couple months after a teen is allowed to drive on their own are the most dangerous. The risk of crashing jumps up by as much as 20%.
Because teens need rules to be crash proof, start by discussing the rules that make the most sense.
For example, teens tend to have more rear end accidents than most because they ten to tailgate.
So, teach road rules like "count to three, safe you'll be". It might be a silly little ditty, but the fact is, if your child practices leaving space in the form of three seconds between them and the car ahead, even if they are not anticipating problems occurring further up the road, and potential road hazards, their chances or not crashing if one occurs, really jumps up.
Beyond this, set rules for things like yellow traffic lights, you don't speed through them, you stop.
Make sure they know not to talk on their phone, adjust mirrors, or change the radio or CDs when driving.
Do that before, or pull to the side of the road when necessary.

Truck Games Are Fun and Provide Thrilling Experiences for the Player
There are many interesting truck games for people of all ages to enjoy. There are many different types of truck games online for people to play. Some of them are centered on monster trucks, while others include small passenger trucks or 18 wheelers.
The playing experience varies for each game.
Some of them will be about racing the trucks, while others will be more focused on completing various tasks by using driving skills.
When a person enters the truck driving games, there are numerous modes that they can choose from that range from beginner levels to advanced levels.
They player can select the type of truck they want, the color of the vehicle, the course map that they want to start the game at, and in some cases a pit crew if the game involves racing the trucks.
Monster trucks are a popular choice, because it is exciting for the players to see the gigantic trucks smash smaller vehicles.
Children especially love these games, because they are the virtual drivers inside these huge vehicles, and it makes them feel grown up when they are driving. The games can also give them basic skills for when they are able to drive real vehicles, because many of the truck games simulate real driving.
The games can be played single player, or some of them allow multiple players depending on the game.
Single players will play against computer generated players.
Multiple players will either play with the two players using one console or by using a computer in a multiplayer mode. These games can also be played online, where each person simply logs into the game to compete against each other. Not all of the games are racing games.
Another version of truck games will have drivers making simulated deliveries to make the driver beat the clock to ensure deliveries are made on time.
If the driver fails to make the deliveries, then he will lose the game.
In some cases virtual money is used to play the games, so if the player loses the game then the virtual currency amount will be deducted from their player account. Driving games are not only fun, they are also educational.
Even though they are games, they teach people skills that they may be able to use in real life driving.
Children who have played these games for years will be more likely to pass a driving test the first time over someone who has never played driving games.
